GOING BEYOND TO COME BACK

Waking up to the one reality is a process of letting go. You’re letting go of your beliefs, your assumptions, your ideas, your definitions, and ultimately, you’re letting go of yourself. While this may sound pretty straightforward, it’s usually anything but. Letting go of everything you have believed to be true will take more than just a deep understanding of spiritual concepts, it’s going to require a great deal of unnecessary effort and a whole lot of trust.

If waking up is about letting go of the false self, then who is it that needs to trust? And why the unnecessary effort?

Spiritual concepts can only take you so far. The evolution of your consciousness takes time. Although this is a journey to your timeless nature, you live in a time-bound world and so does the mind that you are identified with. Everything in nature is intelligently designed with great complexity, so why would the evolution of human consciousness be any different? It’s not.

This is where the real beauty of life comes into play. What could be more beautiful than dissolving into the open arms of existence? There is no greater experience of love than the love that is felt when you let go of control and trust that life will take care. While you are not trusting something outside of yourself, you are none the less having to become totally vulnerable to life, and must be willing to go beyond the safety zone of your heart and mind. This is an expansion of what your definition of love is. This expansion is a by-product of trusting the mystery (life) more than your control program (your false self).

But again, who is it that is trusting? Does not the very act of trusting mean that you believe you are separate from the rest of life? After all, if you’re one with all that exists, then trust would be unnecessary would it not?

In one sense, yes - the reality is that you have never truly been disconnected from your true nature, it has only appeared to be the case. This of course means that you can’t really “come home” to your true nature, because you never really left it. But the truth of your experience is that you do not feel at home – you still believe on some level, that something is missing. This belief is what creates the veil between ultimate truth and the fiction that is your life.
